Ramseyer Co-operative Credit Union (RCCU) has held its 18th Annual General Meeting with an exceptional event and the launch of its maiden documentary in the Ramseyer Presbyterian Church premises at Adum, a suburb of Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.
It brought together stakeholders in the financial sector, leadership of the credit union movement in the Ashanti Region, board members, shareholders and members of RCCU.
Themed “RCCU, your society of safety for financial growth”, the AGM made room for the review of the Union’s audited accounts for the year ending 2018, presentation of its 2018/2019 annual budget and also set a platform for the adoption of resolution for payment of dividend to its members.
A staff at the Ejisu Branch of the RCCU, Ms. Victoria Agyei, formerly introduced the Chairman and invited guests to the event and then the Union anthem was sang to commence the program.
The Board Chairman for RCCU, Mr. George Ayensu Afful presented his report which incorporated the 2017/2018 performance, dividends and budget for that financial year.
His report also highlighted the achievements of the Union, including the rating of RCCU as a “Category A” Union by the Ghana Co-operative Credit Unions Association (CUA) Limited. Mr. Afful further mentioned that the Union’s membership growth has shot up by almost 40%, the progress of work on the RCCU Towers, establishment of the Asafo agency, and the introduction of USSD application for RCCU transaction.
He outlined some of the challenges faced by the Union and concluded by calling on all stakeholders to collaborate in making RCCU the hub of financial growth in the Ashanti Region and the nation as a whole.
The Board Secretary of RCCU, Mr. Samuel Osei Sarfo, read the minutes of the Union’s 17th Annual General Meeting after which a Representative of the Loans Committee Mr. Emmanuel Osei and a Representative of the Supervisory Committee, Charles Asuo Anormakwah presented the annual report on behalf of their various Committees.
The audited report for RCCU was organized by the Ashanti Regional Division Department of Co-operatives, endorsed by CUA and presented by the Regional Director of Co-operatives, Mr. Richard Mensah.
The Board Treasurer of RCCU, Mr. Fredrick Ofori, presented the 2018/2019 budget which included the adoption of resolution for payment of Dividends and sampling of the views of shareholding members on the resolution for payment.
The Chief Executive Officer of RCCU, Mr. Kennedy Yeboah, furnished the gathering with a review of the activities of the Union in the year under review. He also spoke considerably on the theme of the AGM and launched the Union’s maiden documentary planned to be played in the halls of all RCCU Branches. Mr. Yeboah further outlined a number of policies to be implemented to improve the service for its members which includes the introduction of a USSD application.
In fulfilment of a promise made by management to reward members who introduce new members, awards were presented, including awards to loyal members. Some staff of RCCU were also rewarded under two categories – dedicated and long serving. In addition, fraternal messages from the Department of Co-operatives, CUA executives and other guests were delivered.
The Chairman then gave his closing remarks while the Brand Executive for RCCU, Ms. Sarah Tiwaa Dapaah, thanked everyone present for making the AGM a success, bringing the event to an end.
